| Chuck Angus (left) and Peter Jellard are part of the
Grievous Angels, who come from the mining country of
Northern Ontario. Angus is an outstanding songwriter, his lyrics capturing the gritty life of mining towns, trailer parks, and those left behind by the "new economy." |

The Grievous Angels recorded their
classic "One Job Town" in 1990, with the husky
vocals of Michelle Rumball. Very unfortunately, Rumball
left the band shortly afterwards. Since then these
musicians have been underappreciated, and have been
forced to play the bar circuit covering other musicians
work -- a tragedy! The 1996 recording "Waiting for the Cage" is not only a vivid musical account of life in the mines, but it's an outstanding interactive CD-ROM. The recording is produced by Scott Merritt, who has produced such other greats as Fred Eaglesmith. Hopefully the Grievous Angels will win the recognition they deserve! |
