The Setting

As night falls, Fredheads visit the canteen for refreshments. Many prepared meals at their campsites.

No, this isn't Willie P. Bennett after his 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning swim. Actually it's the roast pig served Saturday night along with corn and enough zucchini to build several houses.
Fredheads stocked up on posters, t-shirts and other souvenirs.
And of course there were also lots of CDs for sale from the performers. Fred's wooden box set, "There Ain't No Easy Road," is now available on CD. The packaging alone always draws attention, but it's a great CD from a more mellow period also.
It wasn't hard to find the picnic spot, with signs along all the roads in the area. Just lucky the Flintstones and Krugers weren't holding an event in the area that weekend.
Springwater Pond was atmospheric early in the morning (while Willie was swimming). There were trails along it through the mossy woods. In Canada's "banana belt," the area has flora and fauna not found in other parts of Canada. At one point Fred paused to let the audience hear the chirping sounds of Southern Ontario.
Lining up for roast pork...
...and corn and zucchini.
The audience...
...made themselves comfortable on the grass...
...and among the Fredheads were also a number of dogs.
While most dogs were well behaved, there were a few little scuffles. Fred warned that any dogs running around without a leash might find themselves invited to be dinner at the musician's barbecue.
