Other Performers

The Mary McBride Band performed just before Fred and the boys on Saturday night. Mary is from New York, though her Louisiana roots are evident in her accent.

Mary's performance was captivating -- a lot of energy.

I couldn't get enough of Mary McBride.
Another big highlight was The Fiftymen from Ottawa. I bought their CD, "After Darkfall", and it has had more than a few plays.

Lead singer J.J. Hardill chain smoked cigarettes and chain drank bottles of beer -- suitably Labatt 50 -- while singing often dark lyrics.

Ottawa singer Guen Douglas joined the Fiftymen on stage for several songs.
Jenny Orenstein played solo on acoustic guitar early Saturday afternoon. Her music set the right mood.
Jenny Orenstein looks enviously at a passing canoe on the Springwater Pond, wishing she were out there on the water. The pond, part of the Catfish Creek, was just behind the the stage area, and a variety of water activities carried on during the performances.
Sherry Austin, from California, was a highlight Friday night. In addition to playing her own material, she also did an amazing cover of Fred's "Drive-In Movie" -- a song that brought her to the attention of many Fredheads when it appeared on the "20 Odd Hollers" tribute CD.
Jude Waldon and Darcy Yates.
Jim Yates (left) is Darcy's father, and one member of Jim and Al, who performed Saturday afternoon.
